I was most preoccupied by a new set of pens that I had bought. These brush pens can achieve swift gestural lines capable of suggesting shape in ways that perhaps a simple biro cannot. This led to a good 50% of my latter studies being in this medium. I am glad to have tested them out as I rather think I will use them a lot in future.

Visual Language: Drawing from Reference
In this session we brought 4 images to refer to when drawing. This informed drawing was quite different from the purely imagination fueled variety of the previous week. I found it easier to repeat and improve a drawing when using an existing image as an anchor point. Reference imagery will make illustration more grounded, but the freedom to elaborate and exaggerate is not taken away.
