Visual Language: Monoprinting Workshop

During the workshop we were given the opportunity to visually investigate the processes available to students in the prints rooms. I dabbled in the use of direct plate-manipulation which involves drawing a design onto the oiled printing plate. This process was most enjoyable as it created uniquely vivid coloured textures and tones. If I were to refine this process I can certainly see it's merits.

I also used stencils, this however was less successful, as the image I was using was not suited for a minimalist aesthetic. Instead of attempting to  condense the light and dark into shape, I should have simplified the general figures and recognisable symbols, such as the floating hat or glasses.
