The current industry is dominated by matte-painters who create near-photorealistic facsimiles of environments for their project.
I have frequently struggled to attain this level of realism within my work, as my particular crutch is line art, and I avoid painting with wet or digital media.
I have always enjoyed drawing up new imagined environments, and would certainly like to make a career out of it.
I would suggest that during Level 6 it would be useful to refine my environment-creating abilities, perhaps in relation to a grander project such as a narrative piece.
Rather than creating a totally new story (creating a totally new story would obviously take up a lot of time), I could adapt one of my favourite examples of literature into a short graphic novel or comic. The collective character and environment developments would certainly go some way to creating a coherent portfolio.
