Digital Print Workshop [2]

Similarly to Photoshop, picking a colour will prompt a warning if the colour is beyond the CYMK range.

The colour sliders graphically show the balance of CYMK.

The swatches are more easily edited, than in photoshop. Rather than individually deleting each swatch, one may multi-select them in illustrator, or even select the swatches that have not been used in the document.
Conversely, the option 'Add Used Colours' will convert the used colours within the design into swatches.

The registration swatch represents the printer's marks; marks used for cropping after the printing process is complete.

Creating a new swatch will conjure the above dialogue box; showing the percentage of the inks involved.

SPOT COLOURS

Spot colours are achieved using ink that has been prepared to match the intended colour.
So rather than mixing CYMK, the colour is simply pre-made.

Brands such as Pantone offer spot colours with reference numbers; meaning that specialist printers are able to reproduce the same colours repeatedly.

Spot colours are capable of producing colours beyond the range of CYMK.

The colour libraries may be accessed under the following menu:
