Responsive: Brief Analysis

SyFy UK

.The brief identifies the issue of disappointing viewing figures, compared to their expectations.
.SyFy asks for some form of advertisement to promote the channel.
.SyFy wishes to boost interest in existing fans and improve viewing figures.
.The message they wish to communicate relates to their passion for great 'story telling'.
.The audience appears to be primarily people who are already familiar with the channel.
.SyFy are the primary beneficiaries of the brief.
.SyFy suggests several methods of communication, such as digital applications and print.
.I can foresee that the brief may be a popular one due to the interest in the channel, as well as the sheer breath of intellectual property the channel is associated with. It may prove difficult to not focus on the programming the channel offers.

House of Illustration

.The Folio Society lacks illustrations for it's upcoming Folio Collection of Ghost Stories.
.The brief requires entrants to make illustrations for the folio.
.The brief aims to make use of keen illustrators for free to garnish a book.
.The message they wish to convey relates to the themes of the stories; that of the eerie and uncanny.
.The audience is mature readers of folio collections.
.The book cover itself (point of sale) is the primary method of communication
.The Folio Society is the primary beneficiary.
.The primary problem I can foresee is the distracting entrance fee, as well as the obvious competition a brief such as this would attract.

Pan Macmillan

.The 150th anniversary edition of Alice and Wonderland lacks illustrations, they have also identified that Alice and Wonderland has an established aesthetic that they would rather distance from.
.The brief asks for the illustrator to submit illustrations which bring something original to well trodden ground.
.The goal of the brief is to convince people to buy another edition of Alice and Wonderland.
.The brief wishes to convey a message of modernity and originality; whilst referencing pre-established themes and characters.
.The audience ranges from collectors to parents buying for their children.
.The message shall be conveyed through the book illustrations and cover.
.The primary beneficiary is Pan Macmillan.
.I sense that the brief will be very popular, I also have qualms about finding an original aesthetic for such a franchise as Alice in Wonderland.
