Visual Journal: Themes, Motifs and Lines

Initially we were given the instruction to create a catalogue of lines, using three pens.
With each pen we created three five distinctive lines in light, regular and bold.

Following this we chose a theme common to the writing of our author; I chose travel.
Agatha Christie's books often portray themes of travel and the exotic, reflecting her own experiences visiting archaeological interests around the world. In addition, many of the murder mysteries she wove hinged on some form of travel; for example 'The Sittaford Mystery' [SPOILERS] is resolved once the protagonist realises that the murderer skied from the murder scene in order to establish an alibi.

I then gathered imagery relating to associated motifs of travel, including:

Trains

Exotic Location

Boats
