Visual Communication: Studio Brief 3 (Final Postcards)

Though the initial line art wasn't so laborious I struggled with the colouration on photoshop. I tried several methods in attempt to resolve the work.

I was displeased with this initial attempt, though it was quite successful on this particular image, I found it difficult to reproduce on the other examples.

The second attempt arrived at a darker slightly more consistent use of colouration, however I remained unimpressed.

The third attempt resulted in a more consistent colour scheme which could be applied to the other drawings. It also made use of the new method of using texture which I applied to the Spielberg portrait, the process involves highlighting the dark areas of the composition with water colour, scanning and finally employing some photoshop manipulation.

I also found that the line art for E.T. and Jurassic Park were compositionally flawed, as I had established a centred symmetrical composition with both Raiders and Close Encounters which worked very well.

Finally, after a good amount of digital painting I arrived at solutions that I was content with.

The clouds were employed to balance the deep blues of the imagery, adding a little wedge of sky to further the symmetry.
