Visual Language: Transport (Airships and Screen printing)

Once the final composition was finally arrived at satisfactorily, I digitally painted textures and tone in photoshop.

Merging these layers into a single image allowed for the process of colour separation and the application of bitmap.
Under advice from a particularly helpful IT technician (Michael) the bitmap process was completed through the laser printer, rather than directly done through photoshop, the quality of the bitmap was therefore greatly improved.

Using the bit map tonal layer and standard line-based layer I was prepared for screen printing.
The cleaning process was most enjoyable, though the Monday session was buzzing with seemingly thousands of Printed Textiles students. I found this most peculiar, as the following sessions were serenely quiet.

Over-all I completed around 35 prints, somewhere over 20 of these were pretty good quality, considering I used the vacuum variety of the printing tables, and that my use of emulsion had been over-zealous.

In a future brief I hope to introduce more colours and continue to experiment with the use of bitmap as a tonal method.
