Using the rough sketches I first faithfully traced the drawings, but was unsatisfied with the quality.
This was remedied by referral to the original imagery, I found that the designs were to modest and required further elaboration.

I attempted several compositions in my sketchbook and settled on the idea of super-imposing a full portrait of typical domestic buildings in each city.
My colour palette was particularly influenced by the work of Pierre-Antoine Moelo:
I decided that the buildings must have a uniformity of shape, with the same curvature of roof and proportion.
And furthermore, that the lamp-posts should all be placed in the same part of the composition, to strengthen the relationship between each piece.
When the detailing of windows and doors was complete, I felt that the buildings still lacked some amount of distinctive character. This was improved with the addition of place-specific graffiti. This also gave them a more aged lived-in quality.
