My original intentioned for the module have been met to some extent. I will have a job post-graduation, although unexpectedly in the NUS. Studio Brief 4, that involved running the Film Society was directly responsible for me frequently going to the Student's Union, and inspiring me to eventually run for presidency. I would like to say this was my intention the whole time, but it is an example of unplanned success. Otherwise I have engaged with live briefs, such as the Engineering Colouring Book, which has allowed me to produce informative illustrations that are currently in use in primary schools around the country, and have recently been distributed in the USA. In addition, working with Redman Design introduced me to working for a larger agency, and indeed taught me how to get paid to draw, which is precisely something I wished to gain from the module.
My main regrets, as usual are based in my digital-crutch. I have only recently begun to pull valuable imagery from my sketchbook, which is something I ought to have done from the beginning of the module. Perhaps only now at the close, I have actually thrown away the crutch and understand the value of using different processes. I have only engaged with two competitions throughout the year, I would suggest this is down to my own mistakes in time-keeping, as I am aware many of the artworks I have created could easily be appropriated for competitions sites such as Threadless. I do think the strength of this module has been my constant engagement with live briefs, in-fact briefs 1-5 all respond to an exterior influence, such as events and commissions. My final brief was much more of a personal-orientated brief, and I have recently been in contact with the Hyde Park Picture House to negotiate a merchandise deal.
The module has generally been a success, although I regret not making greater use of analogue processes to finalise imagery, and perhaps I had too few personally-driven projects. The module has launched me into a specific industry of image-making and has resulted in employment. Good show module.

Statement of Intent [Final]
I have written a finalised statement of intent that is reflective of what I actually achieved, written in the present tense to remain consistent to the original version.
SB6 - All Together Now & Merchandise Deal [Final]
I recently spread every printed item, and spread them across a table, the arrangement looks like so;
I have received a call from Ollie, the administrator at the Picture House, as we have a had a good discussion regarding my work as merchandise for the business. I will have a formal meeting on Friday to work out prices. Exciting. The point of this brief was to give something back after the many years I have been a patron of the building, and I have succeeded to the point that my contribution will indeed create revenue for the Hyde Park Picture House… I will also get a good cut from my work.
SB6 - The Facade and Isometric Plans [Final]
Here are the flagship items in the pack, as they appear on the off-white stock. The colours seem much more balanced against a slightly darker background. The subtle textures seem to prevent the images from seeming too flat, and compliment any odd printer marks.

SB6 - The Box [Final]
This is the third and thankfully successful version of the box. Previous attempts ended in frustration. The lid is constructed from a recycled paper storage box, which I have wrapped in my own design. The bottom segment was made from scratch due to a vital mistake made with the other half of the paper storage box. This means the lid is a little heavier than the base, but it seems to work ok.
If anything, the lid can get caught on the base when closing the box, but this is easily solved with a good amount of wiggling. It's a good thing I'm not on a degree for box making. Aesthetically, the box is sound and errors only appear under close inspection.

SB6 - 100 Pieces of Popcorn [Final]
Last night I bought a bag of popcorn and made just over 100 studies of individually popped corn. With these images I have spent the best part of today producing a gigantic concertina - measuring over three metres and containing 27 pages.
It was a fun task, and a good diversion from making the box that will eventually house the entire project.

SB6 - Windows and Doors [Final]
This short stitched book accompanies the annotated plans. Each page contains a window or door drawing, with an associated number. The number refers to numbers that appear on the annotated plans, which show the viewer where the windows are situated on the building.
SB6 - Polaroid Pack [Final]
This pack gives some indication of the packaging I intend to product for each of the included ranges within my submission. The net of this wallet is based on the generic document folders available at the college library. The pack currently contains all 15 of the pseudo-polaroids without difficulty or strain.
SB6 - Floor Plans [Final]
A vital product in the pack are the floor plans, objective representations of the building's layout. The plans I have drawn are indeed based on those I borrowed from Wendy, with amendments as there were some inconsistencies with the original plans.
I don't think it is at all necessary for me to create totally original plans based on a first hand survey, as I have already evidenced my close understanding of the building's layout through my isometric plans.
SB6 - Potential Book?
I have began to group studies I have made form the Hyde Park Picture House, when coloured and restrained within a consistent format, they may make a good short publication based on archiving the variety of object around the building... were there more time I could find objects correlating to the whole alphabet.
SB6 - Polaroids
I have spent a good day or so colouring select areas of the sketches I made of a few of the rooms within Hyde Park picture House.
These extremely cropped images function as pseudo-polaroids... isolated they are almost abstract images without context, however holistically and along side the other materials they give the viewer a greater vision of the interior space within Hyde Park Picture House.

SB5 - Museum Brief 1: Mock Ups
I have started to visit the brief through the lens of potential products and applications. The obvious associations with WW1 imagery are the many books an DVDs on the subject, this may open up potential for a proposed series of DVDs that I will be able to mock-up quickly. Using this monotone process I will be able to make a few quick compositions that represent other War time topics like the damn busters or POW escape movies.

SB4 - Film Posters: Terminator II
I made this poster in about an hour, between completing some of the Hyde Park imagery. I would suggest it looks rushed, but it serves it's purpose well enough.
The image is basic, taken from the pose Arnold assumes when materialising from the future.
I deliberately avoided depicting the robotic skeleton of a T-1000 or indeed Arnold carrying a shotgun, as such motifs have been done to death.

SB6 - Colouration Alternatives
The imagery seems to work with a much more limited palette… perhaps the line and detailing is indeed clearer with a simplified scheme.
SB6 - Fully Coloured Diagram
I completed the diagram whilst listening to an unabridged reading of Dune. I will forever associate this project with Dune. Each segment took a day each to colour. I deliberately avoided shadows as that would have double the amount of time required. I wished to rush through this part of the brief so that I might continue with the hand-rendered images and prepare my submission. I am generally happy with how the imagery turned out, perhaps the projector room colouration could have been further balanced with non-literal colouration, but I must move on.

SB6 - Exploded Diagram [Balcony & Projector Room]
Colour!
I have completed the line work involved in the second floor. The second floor involve and office, two storage areas, a mezzanine storage area and the projector room itself.
The colouration works well, especially with the textures involved. Some closer areas even look like excerpts of Mondrian imagery, which is grand.

SB6 - Colouring Book?
I had a chat with Oli from Hyde Park Picture House, and he mentioned the idea of a colouring book had been thrown around, mentioned that the artwork I was working on was pretty much perfect for that context, and also mentioned the fact that I was recently involved in the Engineering Colouring Book…
I will likely propose this element of the brief and work it out after submission.

SB6 - Exploded Diagram [Basement]
The basement took a lot longer than I thought it might, but this was obviously due to the large volume of detail involved. Compared to the ground floor, I think some portions may be scaled too small. There are some continuity errors compared to reality, but I won't mentioned them since I am convinced only I would notice such errors.

SB6 - Exploded Diagram [Ground Floor]
My immediate priority has been completing the exploded diagram. The line art is the most formal realisation of the space within the building, and will be used as a reference throughout the project.
I had already started on the Foyer, since it is the most complex to reproduce in the isometric perspective; the results are below:

SB6 - Hyde Park Picture House: Developments [12]
After scanning in a large amount of paper and print textures I have figured out an improved method of 'painting with texture'. The process involves using channels to layer colours up, which causes an effect similar to screen printing. Good stuff.
