Summative Statement

My original intentioned for the module have been met to some extent. I will have a job post-graduation, although unexpectedly in the NUS. Studio Brief 4, that involved running the Film Society was directly responsible for me frequently going to the Student's Union, and inspiring me to eventually run for presidency. I would like to say this was my intention the whole time, but it is an example of unplanned success. Otherwise I have engaged with live briefs, such as the Engineering Colouring Book, which has allowed me to produce informative illustrations that are currently in use in primary schools around the country, and have recently been distributed in the USA. In addition, working with Redman Design introduced me to working for a larger agency, and indeed taught me how to get paid to draw, which is precisely something I wished to gain from the module.

My main regrets, as usual are based in my digital-crutch. I have only recently begun to pull valuable imagery from my sketchbook, which is something I ought to have done from the beginning of the module. Perhaps only now at the close, I have actually thrown away the crutch and understand the value of using different processes. I have only engaged with two competitions throughout the year, I would suggest this is down to my own mistakes in time-keeping, as I am aware many of the artworks I have created could easily be appropriated for competitions sites such as Threadless. I do think the strength of this module has been my constant engagement with live briefs, in-fact briefs 1-5 all respond to an exterior influence, such as events and commissions. My final brief was much more of a personal-orientated brief, and I have recently been in contact with the Hyde Park Picture House to negotiate a merchandise deal.

The module has generally been a success, although I regret not making greater use of analogue processes to finalise imagery, and perhaps I had too few personally-driven projects. The module has launched me into a specific industry of image-making and has resulted in employment. Good show module.
