SB6 - Lines

Instead of using flat colours to illuminate my illustrations, I intend to use some sort of textutre that may enhance the spacial quality of the imagaery. One option is to use a repeating pattern of line, this had led to some investigation of line within the sketchbook.

How may a series of lines describe the orientation of a surface, it's colour and texture?
