The client approved of the designs of the objects, it was also clarified that all artwork should appear in monotone greys. The client was concerned that the sand bags looked a little like a brick wall, so I put together the following image for reference to ensure that the bags were had more of a fabric texture:

I referred to the vector artwork of HR-FM to figure out methods of suggesting texture and tone in Illustrator, without using gradients or transparencies.
