Moving Pictures: Final(ish) Animations
The Man in the Brown Suit from Adam Allsuch Boardman on Vimeo.
It was my initial intention to make the shadows shift in relation to the train, however I found that redrawing the shadows frame-by-frame was far too time consuming and barely noticeable for the duration of the animation. Instead, I have simply shifted the transparency of the shadows, making them more opaque as the train passes.
The Sittaford Mystery from Adam Allsuch Boardman on Vimeo.
Animating the snow involved the use of innumerable smart objects layered on top of each other. This process sustains the illusion of depth more so than using a simple looped snow effect from the internet.
Murder on the Orient Express from Adam Allsuch Boardman on Vimeo.
The smoke billowing from the steam engine was achieved by moving a lengthy strip of smoke continually upward. With the addition of a static mask, the smoke appears to exit the steam engine and disappear into the sky.
Death on the Nile from Adam Allsuch Boardman on Vimeo.
This was the last animation I completed, to create the illusion of variable waves along the boat's hull I again made use of a static mask.
Evil Under the Sun from Adam Allsuch Boardman on Vimeo.
I am not satisfied with the visuals of this particular animation as it seems somewhat more empty compared to the others, although I find the use of sound most successful in this example. The a slightly distorted recording of 'I do Like to be Beside the Seaside' seems to add to the uncanny atmosphere.
