Moving Pictures: Contextual Reference

For the moving pictures brief I wish to create a series of short subtle animations which communicate the brooding atmosphere of Agatha Christie books. The task is to ensure that these animations are loop-able, making them potentially infinite in length, even if their movements are actually minimal.

I would suggest that stings such as these could be used for web-based advertising in the form of banners etc to draw in potential readers.

The example below by Mark Ferrari achieves this through colour-cycling, which I would suggest is perhaps a little too advanced for my current level of technical understanding. However I find that I could achieve similar results using a combination of Photoshop and After Effects

Art by Mark Ferrari and coding by Joseph Huckaby

Further analysis of Mark Ferrari's work is in the following post on my PPP blog.

I have attempted .gifs of this characteristic before [as shown below], adding rain is a somewhat easy process, but as for this project I would like to apply a more advanced use of weather and lighting effects.
