Moving Pictures: Proof of Concept

I have been developing the concept of a train carriage in relation to the life and works of Agatha Christie. Not only does the imagery relate to her famous book 'Murder on the Orient Express,' but also to the realisation of her life-long dream to travel on the train and visit the world.

Initially I planned to separate the animation into several layers.

It would be possible to animate the composition manually using cut-outs. I have also considered using acetate and a light box to create lighting effects throughout the scene. By printing a black boarder around the 'window' one could accomplish the effect of light pouring in from the window.

The .gif above crudely demonstrates how I might make the animation digitally; by scanning the hand-drawn-elements and colouring them digitally.
