Otherwise known as 'The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark.'
I deliberately chose Hamlet as it I did not study it or read it during my schooling years.
It was a very pleasant read. Hamlet learns that his father's ghost (the late king) is haunting the battlements. Upon confrontation, the ghost reveals that he was murdered by his brother for the throne, he pressures Hamlet to seek vengeance and murder his uncle. This provokes Hamlet to wrestle with humanity's core questions concerning existence through the medium of soliloquy.
After reading the play, I watched the RSC production starring Sir Derek Jacobi, which relied somewhat on Shakespeare's particularly visual language, using set pieces and props only sparingly. This was extenuated by the peculiar early 80s camera work and special effects.
