Visual Communication: Studio Brief 3 (Developments)

Having familiarised myself with the trivialities of Steven Spielberg's life I have begun a new sketchbook to visually investigate the director.
I hope to focus on his role as a film maker and visionary, illustrating the variety of genres that he has presented to audiences over several decades.

More recently, I have begun to draw from reference less scrupulously,  though initial examples are quite varied and inaccurate, I think that this better informs later drawings that are more liberal and gestural. I also find it a lot more satisfying than producing 20 minute pseudo-realistic studies.

My primary idea involves using the four postcards to portray famous set-pieces from Spielberg films, including lighting and equipment.

The stamps will most likely feature personal items tied the Spielberg, such as his dog, iconic baseball cap, Panavision camera and canned SpaghettiOs.

As scrawled on this page, Spielberg is a great admirer of Normal Rockwell, which opens up a avenue of options. I shall refer to Rockwell's painterly aesthetic in the primary poster.
