During this sessions I mostly concerned myself with how the final image might appear. I toyed with the idea of the 10 goons going about their variable activities in a rather blank apartment block. This would allow for a simple, familiar and grounded context for the surreal characters and activities.
I had prepared a list of 20 activities for the goons to be participating in, I eventually chose the most visually striking examples, such as rowing a boat indoors, hopefully to conjure humorous imagery.
I eventually settled on the basic linear characters and chose to apply colour using gouache. I chose gouache for the reason that I am greatly unfamiliar with it, and hopped to expand my skills.
For the background I wished to create a wash of tone. I first used a paint roller to apply water colour, but I was unimpressed with the result. I found that using a decorator's brush with acrylic was the most striking and solid producer of colour. Having half-remembered that ash could be mixed into acrylic to produce a more textural tone I did so, and was most happy with the result.
